FELLOWSHIP

The AP Computer Science Principles (AP CSP) Fellowship is a two-year program designed to help high school teachers implement college-level computer science in their schools.

During your first summer as a Fellow, you will attend a five-day Advanced Placement Summer
Institute
to explore the course framework, the exam, and class resources.

When you return to your school for your first year of the Fellowship, you will work with your school leaders to ensure that AP CSP will be offered the following year. You will also recruit a diverse student population that is representative of the entire student body through events such as an Hour of Code or Coding Club.

During the summer between your first and second year, you will participate in a five-day curriculum-specific professional development that will prepare you to create a highly engaging CS experience for your students.

In your second year as a Fellow, you will teach the AP CSP curriculum to your students and participate in four online quarterly professional development sessions.

Throughout both years of the Fellowship, you will also participate in 2-4 online check-ins with Teach for America staff to discuss and address problems of practice, such as recruiting students and preparing them for the AP Computer Science Principles exam.

The AP CSP curriculum focuses on seven big ideas: Creativity, Abstraction, Data and Information, Algorithms, Programming, The Internet, and Global Impact.

These seven ideas combine to give students a well-rounded understanding of computer science and its effects on their world.

Open new opportunities for your students.
